Problems..everybodys got them

You know as much as I feel for people who suffer from depression I'm just not going to lie, I don't really understand how things can get that bad, that you just want to mope around.

Personally I think that depression is something you bring on yourself and therefore you can control it. Everybody hits those down spots in their lives where for a minute it can look like there is no way to get back up. I have news for you if you want it bad enough there is always a way to get back up. People do it all the time!

My mom told me that she's been on top of the mountain so many times and some how she always seems to find herself at the bottom again. Of course I felt bad when she told me this but at the same time it made me think, you don't just wake up one morning and find yourself at the bottom of that mountain you were at the top of the night before. You knock yourself off that mountain. Stop doing things you know you shouldn't and you might just stay on top for a bit longer next time.

You're in control of your life....this means that only you can make it better!

If you know what's causing the problems that are bringing you down take some time and figure out what you need to do in order to make a positive change.

Lost your job....take time to find a new one...can't get a new job...take some time and learn the skills you need in order to find a job you both like and can be financially stable with.

Need more money...get another job...start your own business while working at your normal job.

There is always something you can do to get yourself out of that hole you've dug yourself into!

If you think your at the end of your rope and there's just no hope you can always think about what problems other people face and how most just take them in stride with their everyday lives.

I'm 19 years old, I had a car accident back in December of last year...fell asleep driving, lost my license, found out I have narcolepsy, had to take two sleep test that cost a ton of money, I have a ton of doctor bills, the narcolepsy medicine costs about $320 a month....so next time you think you have problems remember everyone has stuff to deal with. It's not the end of the world!

It's the Little Things

Every day millions of people run through their day without taking time to stop and appreciate all the little things that happen that really mean so much. Here's a list of some of the little things that happen throughout your life that most of us overlook and don't take the time to fully appreciate:

  • That stranger we exchange smiles with on the street....people don't realize what a smile can mean to a person. A real smile shared can brighten someone's entire day!
  • That person that takes 30 extra seconds out of their day to hold open a door for us. Acknowledge that person and the kind gesture they just made waiting for you to pass when chances are they also have somewhere to be....say thank you and mean it!
  • That good feeling you get when you pick up that ringing phone, read the caller ID and its a call you've been waiting for all day.
  • The feeling you get in your stomach when you drive over a hill a little faster than you should.
  • Laughing so hard you cry
  • That day you tripped walking in or out of work and you just swore you would die of embarrassment....Take a chill pill it might not seem ok now but years later you'll be able to tell your kids this story and you'll all get a kick out of it...trust me.

Get Involved!

Every person big, small, young or old can make a difference if they choose to.

When you think about how many people are in the world its kind of overwhelming. According to just about everybody today the planet is way over populated. Think about what a difference we could make if every person did just one good deed a day. I'm not talking about spending half your day building houses or giving up your night to volunteer at the local shelter. If that's what you choose to do thats great. But it doesn't have to be something huge to make a difference. All the little things we do count too whether you think they do or not.

Giving an extra 5 minutes when you pass someone you know to find out how they are can make a difference. Or even finding out about someone you don't know.

I work with this older man. He's a delivery guy at the pizza place where I work. Every Saturday night when I go into work about 9 o'clock this older man is supposed to check out at about 9 or 10 depending on how busy we are. Every Saturday night he'll check out and give me his money to put away and then he'll sit and talk to me and sometimes he stays until we close at 1 am. We sit and talk about everything. He tells me about his wife and why he doesn't look forward to going home and just how unhappy he is with life. I feel bad but I know that, that time I spend with him every Saturday night makes him happy. If everybody spent just a little bit of their time and did something good just think about how great life could be.

Have you ever walked past smiled at a stranger and seen that look in their eye. That look like you just made their day.  Its amazing that something as little as a smile can make others feel happy and yet most people can't find the time to do even that.

If you don't have time or feel like smiling you could always donate money, clothes, toys, books and well the list goes on forever. If every person on our planet would donate just $1 it could make a huge difference. We could find a cure for aids, or help to win the fight against cancer.

I feel like I'm meant to do something great. I haven't figured out what it is yet but I know that I don't want to be actress great. I want to do something to help people, something that will make our world a better place.

Here are a few of the things I've been looking at and a few I've even donated to:

Things Need to Change

Do you ever watch the news and think man I wish I could change that? Have you ever gone through your day and just thought things need to change?

I know that I hardly ever get through a week without discovering something that I wish I had the power to change or fix. Recently I realized....I do! I do have the power to fix anything I want its just a matter of figuring out how to go about getting it done.

Here are a few of the things that I personally think need to be changed or fixed:

  • College and University tuition prices...With the prices of tuition now a days nobody can afford to send their kids to college. Although I guess that works out pretty good for companies that offer student loans. Which brings me to my next point.
  • Student loan interest rates....Have you seen the interest rates on those things? Man you get one loan and you spend the rest of your life paying it off. I feel bad for the kids who need to get them to cover all 4 years of college....GOOD LUCK TO YOU! If you get the loan by yourself (without a cosigner) they charge you interest up the butt. Having your parents cosign for you can help a little bit..if they have good credit. If your parentals have bad credit well your just all around screwed!
  • Plus size modeling...I don't know about most people but those models that they consider "plus size" look like normal girls to me. They look like girls that I could go to the beach and see prancing around in bikinis and I don't mean flab hanging out all over either. They look like normal healthy woman. I guess I'm confused a little bit when it comes to the modeling size issue. Aren't designers making clothes that they want people to buy? Most people I know aren't nearly as thin as those tooth pick models. So who is it they want to buy their clothes?
  • All the tummy tuck, face lift, botox, diet, lippo crap shown in magazines. I picked up a suburban woman magazine and the whole thing from cover to cover was about how to fix different parts of your body...face lift, whiten your teeth, tummy tuck, get rid of crows feet and laugh lines. People wonder why women today are so concerned with the way they look and being so nasty skinny...news flash when everywhere a woman looks she sees fix this and fix that she can't help but think she needs to improve the way she looks. Personally I think its the flaws we have that make us fabulous and unique. Those crows feet and laugh lines are supposed to be there. They show that you've had a life full of happiness and laughter. If you don't have them what does it tell people...you don't know what it feels like to laugh so hard you cry and personally I think thats a shame. I couldn't imagine going through life and now knowing what that feels like.
  • The amount of money illegal immigrants make...I know they aren't here legally and while that is bad I think they are paying for it hard core. In fact they are paying for it more than they should. Because they're illegal employers don't see fit to pay them what they would pay a legal citizen. I think thats disgusting considering how hard working most of them are. I worked with a man who worked about 81 hours a week. From about 8 in the morning to 12 or 1 am 7 days a week. He was payed about a quarter more than the minimum wage but that was only after working there for about 5 years. That man gave up his life to work for them and because he was illegal and didn't speak very good english he didn't even understand about over time and how hard core he was getting ripped off. It just makes me sad to see that people don't even have the decency to treat another human being the way they should be treated because of their own greed.
  • The cost of healthy food in comparison to junk food. People are always commenting on the obesity problem in America. Well have you looked around at food prices. Healthy food costs way more than junk food does. Whether your shopping at the grocery store or buying food at a restaurant its all the same. A salad costs more than a cheeseburger....are you serious! How can you complain about people being fat when are food pricing system is so messed up?
  • The way scholarships are given...I get wanting to award students that do outstanding when it comes to academics or sports but come on how about giving more students a chance and not giving 10 scholarships to the same kid. I think thats ridiculous. I know a ton of students who deserve scholarships just because they didn't participate in as many extra curriculars or play sports doesn't mean they shouldn't get one. Plus schools that don't do the special ranking for advance placement courses are kind of cheating their students out of scholarships. Kids who excel in average classes are getting scholarships because they got and A when a kid who took an advance placement course got a B. Thats bogus!
  • Credit Card Services...Ever want to check your credit score or credit report online? Well they have about 100 different sites that will let you see them for a fee. What they don't tell you is that not only are you paying that fee but you're also signing up to pay a monthly fee for credit monitoring services. I don't think so....those sites are ripping so many people off its ridiculous. Did you know that if they can't charge your credit card one month they never contact you, instead they keep on trying until the payment goes through and if it never does well its just posted to your credit report as not being payed. They will never contact you!...What kind of credit monitoring service is that?
Well I can probably go on and on but those are a few of the main things that I think need to be changed. I'm still working on figuring out a  way to fix them.
